Going against the incumbent, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has apparently endorsed former Miami-Dade School Board Member Renier Diaz de la Portilla in the Miami-Dade Commission District 5 race.

Oh, and it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s the boss’s baby brother. Naaaahhh.

Suarez, who is now officially the new whipping boy for Miami Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla, sent a message out through the campaign via text Saturday that sorta shocked a lot of people who thought Baby X had redeemed himself somewhat since he became Patient Zero, posting daily videos from quarantine and responding thoughtfully to the COVID19 crisis.

The common thought: Here he goes, sticking his foot in it again.

“Hi, Francis Suarez asking you to vote for my friend Renier Diaz de la Portilla. Renier has the experience and courage we need in these difficult times,” reads the text, which includes RDLP’s ballot number.

Someone take the mayor’s temperature please.

Suarez did not respond to a text from Ladra asking why on Earth he would be moved to do this. It’s not enough that Alex is the big papi on campus now. Some political observers suggest that ADLP has some dirt on Baby X.

“The mayor is as clean as they come,” Diaz de la Portilla texted Ladra from the Resort at Longboat Key Club in Sarasota. “Our mayor is doing a great job. He is a good man that cares for our city.”

Yeah, that’s not what he used to say.

It’s not necessarily bad that these two have a better relationship (people say they bonded on the trip to Paris). But it’s not necessarily good, either. Alex does nothing if there’s nothing in it for him. And it’s definitely gonna be a bit awkward when Commissioner Eileen Higgins wins reelection Nov. 3.

Also, Ladra hopes Baby X knows how treacherous his new BFF can be.

Cuidao’ que te pica.
