Politico Pics of the Week: Year ends with fun, family, faith

Another slow week for electeds as we celebrated New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and the prolonged vacation people take the days before and after.

Very few selfies were posted. But Ladra always finds some. And, this time, the general theme was family.

Miami Springs Mayor Zavier Garcia skipped the parties and rang in the New Year with his clan at home. Ladra wants a paper hat, too.

Ditto for Miami-Dade Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, who seems all better now after a scare in the hospital last month.

State Rep. Jose Felix “One More Pepe” Diaz spent it with his family, too, but not at home. They apparently go to Disney World every year. And it looks like they took a cruise, judging by this photo of the swashbuckling familia. Ladra wants an eyepatch, too.

Rep. Diaz, maybe getting his time now before sessions begins in two months, couldn’t get enough of his family during the holidays, so he took them to work Friday to his office at Akerman, Senterfitt. He called it “take your family to work day.” Well, at least he went to work Friday, which is more than I can say for many others.

Doral Councilwoman Bettina Rodriguez-Aguilera has a tradition with her family on Jan. 1: Bake day. Ladra wants a cookie, too.

In South Dade, Homestead Mayor Jeff Porter and Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough shared a pew with Florida City Councilman Roy S. Shiver at Greater Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday.

But there was also time for some fun, as Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and Commissioner Marc Sarnoff showed Sunday at the King Mango Strut Parade. The Coconut Grove Grapevine blog shot this pic of the two handing a fake key to the city over to a fake Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who is running for re-election despite his crack cocaine binging history.
