the works. You can’t believe there isn’t.

Of course, Levine and his cohorts, if elected, will later say it’s going to Rebecca Towersbe the best thing for the viejitos there. They will get modern homes and better amenities, eventually, somewhere if not at that same location. But they will have to make room for retail stores and restaurants and condos, a hotel or nightclub maybe.

The Hard Rock gave generously to the shady Relentless for Progress PAC that Levine and his henchman, Commissioner Jonah Wolfson, shook down donations for. Maybe they want to open a marina-side casino.

What Ladra knows for sure is that something is happening. Custin, who already has gotten at least two of his clients contracts at the city, is not being paid $10,000 a month to just let things be. In fact, he commands that price precisely because of his access to the mayor.

Maybe Levine didn’t know anything about it. Doubtful. But let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. But when he learned — and its right on the city’s website in black and white — he should have denounced it and fired Custin on the spot. Instead, he says that nothing is going to happen to Rebecca Towers.

How can we possibly believe that? Facts are stubborn things.

Like the fact that TC Miami Beach Marina is owned by Kenneth and Jimmy Tate, of the Stanley Tate clan, who are said to be very good friends (especially Jimmy) of Miami Beach developer Scott Robbins, Levine’s business partner. In fact, both Robbins and Levine have partnered with the Tate boys before — in 2013, when they tried to recapitalized U.S. Century Bank. They eventually decided not to move forward — with that deal, anyway.

We also cannot believe Perez when she says  it was a rumor started by a blogger who attacks candidates and linked it to one of the candidates that Ladra predicts will beat Perez to a runoff.

“Unfortunately, yesterday one of my opponents stooped to an all-time low in Miami Beach political history. Kristen Rosen Gonzalez made a false and deceptive accusation against Mayor Levine, my consultant, and me in relation to Rebecca Towers. It was both a direct and implied false attack on my character.

I’ve researched the matter and learned the truth. My opponent is coordinating with a disbarred attorney who lives outside Miami Beach and has been falsely cyber-attacking me for months, along with a blogger well-known for attacking candidates.

Wait… is that me? Was she talking about little ol’ Ladra? Awwww… shucks. Guilty as charged. But Ladra only attacks the bad candidates.

Lucky for me and for the people of Miami Beach, Rosen Gonzalez has taken the gloves off.

“You need to know the truth about the Rebecca Towers,” she wrote in an email blast of her own. kristenrosenMy opponent, Betsy Perez, can’t tell you the truth. It would take money out of the pockets of her campaign manager, David Custin. She’s too afraid of Custin and Mayor Levine.”

And she added a couple of facts that Ladra didn’t know because, contrary to Perez’s claims, we are not working together. She said Levine contols the five-member Miami Beach Housing Authority that operates Rebecca Towers and can sell the North Tower outright. She also said a Chinese developer wants to build a six-acre club in South Beach and redevelop the marina with a luxury condo where the North Tower is., all while he is running the campaigns of Mayor Levine and the slate.

This isn’t what we want. This isn’t who we are. The people of Miami Beach deserve better than this from their elected officials.

I am not deceiving anyone. No special interests are running my campaign. I am telling you the truth.

“And they’ve got their eyes on the South Tower, too,” Rosen Gonzalez wrote.

“That’s right. David Custin wants to sell Rebecca Towers North and the Miami Beach Marina to the Chinese.

I’m sick of the lies. I’m sick of Custin and all the others sacrificing the least among us for a few pieces of silver. I’m sick of all the shady back-room deals.

We need leadership. Leadership that will save our marina.  More importantly, leadership that will save our senior citizens.

Yesterday I was accused of stooping low. But what the Mayor and slate candidates don’t understand is that you never stand so tall as when you stoop to help another.”

If I didn’t already think Rosen Gonzalez would win in her group, I certainly think so now.
