“This is a frivolous attack from someone who doesn’t even live in our district,” Curbelo said, doing everything he could to deflect from the issue about his hidden business associations. “He can’t vote in this Screen shot 2014-08-19 at 1.59.08 AMelection because he doesn’t live in our district. He was a supporter of John Kerry’s campaign for president, donated money to John Kerry and he is questioning my Republican credentials.”

Why, in his desperation to deviate from the topic, Curbelo all but called MacDougall a communist.

“I report everything that’s required by law. It’s public record and everyone is allowed to see it,” he added.

And he’s telling the truth there. He is complying with the law. He just found a legal loophole to avoid disclosing who pays Capitol Gains tens of thousands in retainers — other than the Genting company — that want to advance their causes with the different government entities. Because the company was put in his wife’s name. Ladra will go so far as to say that’s why he put the company in her name and that’s why he has left the company in her name for four years.

“Anyone can ask me anything… it’s all there for the public to see,” Curbelo added.

But that’s not entirely right. He’s lying again. Now we know he does that.

“I’m very proud of my business.”

Then why not put it your own name? Curbelo told Ladra months ago when I first brought this up that he had cecilia curbelochanged his business to his wife’s name at the suggestion of U.S. Senate attorneys when he went to go work for George LeMieux. We have no confirmation of this. He offered nothing in writing from them. And he hasn’t worked for LeMieux in four years.

But, coincidentally, the year he changes the business to his wife’s name, he runs for the school board. And for the first time he would have had to file financial disclosures that would include the name of any client that produced at least 5% of the revenue for the company. But he dodged that bullet. So, in essence, he’s never had to produce them. He has served as a school board member for four years and has never had to disclose who his clients are.

Carlos Curbelo has the nerve to call me an extortionist and unethical, basically a sell-out, when he won’t prove that he’s not a sell-out himself. He said he would provide the names of his clients to anyone who asked but when Ladra asked he said it was none of our business.

Could it be because we will find some conflict of interests in his list of clients? People believe he represents the Diaz-Balart brothers, at the very least, who tried to get a school named for them. And maybe Lincoln Marti Schools or Demetrio Perez, the owner, who have millions of dollars in charter school contracts.

You know what, Carlitos — you whiny little crybaby — Ladra has a great idea. Why don’t you buy an ad on curbeloPolitical Cortadito and list your clients for everyone to see? I promise you a discounted cost per mil impressions, lower than what anyone else is paying.

Because you know the truth. You know that I sent you the same email I sent most of my contacts almost a year ago when Political Cortadito started to take display ad space, to give everyone the same opportunity to advertise on a site with a loyal local following and high pageviews among a returning audience. Cancio got the email, she said. Putney, too. Neither one of them thought I was shaking them down.

And neither did you.

In fact, I distinctly remember you offering to help me find people who would, of course, legitimately benefit from advertising to my affluent and highly-educated audience. Am I to surmise you expected some kind of quid pro quo in content kindness in return?

Is that how you do things? Because everybody knows it’s not how Ladra does things.

Like everybody else who has come in contact with me — including advertisers I have not been favorable to — you very well know, Carlitos, that the editorial space, this space, is mine, all mine, and is not for sale. Or even for rent. Your false accusations and the motivations behind them only speak to the kind of man you are. What my family calls poco hombre.

But more importantly, it shows that you are not congressional material. In fact, I’m not certain that he should remain on the School Board.

Now, defendant material? That may be closer to your near future as Ladra — who has two Pulitzers and an Emmy to show for her two decades plus of ethical journalism — ponders a slander lawsuit.

I mean, how much better can you get for a witness than Michael freaking Putney?

Is there an attorney in the house?
