The head of the Miami Regional Operations Center of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement “retired” abruptly Thursday.
A group of agents were called to a mandatory meeting Thursday morning and told that Special Agent in Charge Troy Walker had retired “effective immediately.” Walker, the first African-American to be named chief SAC at the Miami FDLE, was in his third year in the Deferred Retirement Option Plan and was, reportedly, seeking a higher post at the state level.
A couple of law enforcement sources told Ladra that the story is why Walker left so suddenly. The FDLE media office issued this statement Thursday afternoon after Political Cortadito called:
“During his tenure, SAC Walker developed countless partnerships with South Florida law enforcement and the community. These bonds returned trust and confidence in the FDLE Miami Region and led to many successful law enforcement operations and initiatives. We appreciate his dedication to the law enforcement community, the State of Florida and Miami.”
Fort Myers FDLE Special Agent in Charge Eli Lawson will temporarily manage both regions until a permanent replacement can be selected, a spokeswoman said.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Walker had been with the FDLE for almost 30 years. He came to Miami in 2014 from the Tampa Bay Operations Center after then Gov. Rick Scott ousted former FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey. The shakeup reached the Miami office, where the agent in charge was demoted and the deputy forced to resign. Enter Walker.
Two months into the job, he was suspended with pay after a “citizen’s complaint,” according to a report published in the Miami Herald.
Walker — who got his BA and MBA at Florida A&M University — joined FDLE in 1997, where he was assigned to the Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center, investigating economic crime and public corruption cases. By 2004, he was made a special agent supervisor. By 2011, he was the assistant SAC in Tampa Bay, or second in charge.
Since 2014, Walker has overseen all the operations, administrative and special program functions of the Miami Operations Center, which covers Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. That includes some public corruption investigations. Ladra can’t help but wonder if he was on one now.
Walker has handled domestic security, counter terrorism, threats & targeted violence, human trafficking, officer involved shootings, public integrity, complex economic crimes, mortgage fraud, prescription drugs/narcotics, major illicit drugs, organized crime, gang, gun violence, and money laundering investigations.

Regrettably, I must concur with Miami-Dade Citizen. I wish the best for SAC Walker, but his time at FDLE and in law enforcement, in general, had long passed. In today’s world, mental illness affects many individuals, and I hope SAC Walker receives the assistance he needs to overcome this challenge. Unfortunately, there may be details that emerge in the future through public records requests that shed more light on the circumstances. He did not simply walk away quietly; he was compelled to leave. The commissioner did the best he could in this situation, but unfortunately, it required retirement due to a particularly serious issue. In any case, his legacy and impact on the region will endure indefinitely. His image lives on giving us a complete picture/photo of his true intentions for the region.
Miami Dade County Citizen or whoever you are, based on your comments, it seems like you did more than wait for Former SAC Walker to be “canned”. You probably had a hand in it. Geesh, get a life and move on. It seems SAC Walker has happily done so with pride and dignity. That’s more than I can say for people like you.

Look, anyone who cold-cocks a citizen with a punch in public doesn’t even deserve to be in law enforcement. Full stop. Troy Walker should have been canned back in 2015 and sent out to pasture. See Miami Herald article. . Instead we had to wait and wait for someone up at HQ in Tallahassee with ^%>>! to dismiss this guy. After punching a citizen, he thought he was untouchable. No surprise there. FDLE should have treated its troops in Miami much better. Better late than never, I guess, but do better, FDLE …………7 whatever years with his nose in the air just about killed us. A lot of vey good people left for other agencies taking their talents and YOUR $$$ training with them. Guess what he still has a few loyalists’ in this region creating chatter. All we want to do is close more damn cases without him involved anymore anywhere. Thank you, HQ!!!!

The City of Hollywood/ Hollywood Police Department covered up an alleged sexual assault against a Black Female Retired Police Officer by a Workers Comp Physiatrist, Dr. Alan Novick, Hollywood, Fl and her Medical Records were Altered to avoid disability compensation.
FDLE was notified and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to assist the her but FDLE did notified The Chief of The Hollywood Police Department and provided them with information regarding her complaint !

I’m a black female retired totally permanent disabled officer with the HPD of fifteen years. I endured discrimination, racism, harassment, sexual harassment, retaliation, and my family were denied free medical care (gaslighting). The police department covered up a sexual battery against a worker’s compensation physician, Dr. Alan Novick and altered medical records, misappropriated funds from the PBA pension/ worker’s comp benefits . The City of Hollywood inadvertently allowed Attorney Tamatha Alvarez to claim work related injuries on a personal car crash with no injuries without my knowledge to avoid worker’s compensation benefits.. my complaint to the internal affairs unit written by Lt. John Graham against Lt. Selina Hightower in reference to being harassed of sick time was falsified. The City’s attorney, Andrew Borah, reneged on a worker’s comp/ EEO settlement after all parties agreed and the case was closed…violation of the Florida Sunshine Law!!!!!!!! I was told as a black woman that I looked to muscular to be disabled!
It should be noted when FDLE ( Troy Walker was contacted regarding the complaint. He refused to investigate an alleged sexual assault against Hollywood physician and falsifying medical records

THIS IS A TRUE STATEMENT. Prior to SAC TROY WALKER coming to the Miami Region, there was no trust between FDLE and the community. Now let’s see who is going to do what he’s done to put FDLE on the map. Who is going to fill his shoes???? I’ll wait.
