Annette Taddeo challenges Maria Elvira Salazar to debates in congressional race

Remember debates? How great they were? Wouldn’t it be great to see some this election cycle?

Sen. Annette Taddeo, who is running as the Democratic nominee for Floridas 27th Congressional District, has challenged the incumbent, U.S. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, to four debates — two in English and two en Español. This is the best way for voters to see the differences between them.

“These midterm elections are the most important in recent history,” Taddeo said. “The cost of living in Miami is out of control, parents fear sending their children to school because of gun violence, and the rights and liberties that the people of South Florida hold dear are all on the ballot.

“Whoever is elected in November will need to rise above partisan politics and extreme agendas to deliver real results for every person and family that calls FL-27 home,” Taddeo said.

“The importance of this election, especially one that will be decided by the slimmest of margins, demands that we do everything in our power to educate the public and share our visions for building a more prosperous future for the people of our community,” Taddeo ended.

This is the letter she sent to the congresswoman:

September 22, 2022
Dear Mrs. Salazar,

Congratulations on securing the Republican Party’s nomination in Florida’s 27th (FL-27) Congressional District. As a woman, a mom, and a small business owner who has lived the American Dream, I know what is at stake in this election for Miamians all across this district and expect you understand the responsibility we each have to make our case directly to them.

These midterm elections are the most important in recent history. The cost of living in Miami is out of control, parents fear sending their children to school because of gun violence, and the rights and liberties that the people of South Florida hold dear are all on the ballot. Whoever is elected in November will need to rise above partisan politics and extreme agendas to deliver real results for every person and family that calls FL-27 home.

This race is not about you or me, it’s about the people that we would represent in the halls of Congress. This election should be a free and open exchange of ideas, where voters can learn where we both stand on the issues that most matter to our community from lowering the cost of living and reducing healthcare costs to defending the fundamental rights of women and protecting our democracy.

It’s important for the people of FL-27 to hear and understand how we would work to deliver real results that will allow them to provide a better life for themselves and their families.  As such, I am challenging you, Mrs. Maria Elvira Salazar, to four televised debates, two in English and two in Spanish before Election Day.

The importance of this election, especially one that will be decided by the slimmest of margins, demands that we do everything in our power to educate the public and share our visions for building a more prosperous future for the people of our community.

Respectfully,
Senator Annette Taddeo, Democratic Nominee for Florida’s 27th Congressional District

The most recent polls have the two women almost neck and neck. Taddeo is a few points behind, but well within the margin of error. This race will be watched all over the country and is one the Democrats hopes to turn blue.
