She’ll be in the hot seat at Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club

Alina Hudak is almost one year into her new job as the city manager in Miami Beach. The former deputy Miami-Dade mayor under Carlos Gimenez was named to replace former manager Jimmy Morales, who went to work for Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

It was almost like a trade.

And some might say the Beach got the better end of the deal.

Hudak is a veteran government administrator, working almost three decades in Miami-Dade. She served as assistant county manager and county manager before becoming a deputy mayor in the administration of Carlos Gimenez. She was set to retire when she was hired as an assistant city manager in Miami Beach in 2020 — her boss was termed out later that year anyway. She got the interim role four months before being appointed the permanent position last April.

She now has a four-year contract at $320,000 a year (plus $9,600 annually for a vehicle allowance and tons of leave time and retirement benefits).

The wife of Coral Gables Police Chief Ed Hudak, Alina Tejeda Hudak became the first female city manager in Miami Beach. This week, she is the invited speaker at the Miami Beach Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club meeting. Ladra expects the controversial street raising project and the recent and demolition of the Deauville Hotel will dominate the discussion.

Breakfast begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at CAO Bakery & Cafe, 1420 Alton Rd. Hosted by former Mayor Matti Bower, it will also stream on Facebook Live, where viewers are encouraged to submit questions.
