MIAMI, FL - January 18, 2018 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) - Hispanicize Event announced today its national call for nominations for the 2018 Positive Impact Awards (PIAs). Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the PIAs honor exceptional Latino heroes who have dedicated their time and resources to making a difference in their communities.

Nominations for the 5th annual PIAs will be accepted online through February 28, 2018 via http://hispzpia.com.

“The Positive Impact Awards are a steadfast reminder of the accomplishments of Latinos in our country. Every year we are proud to honor unsung heroes from all across the nation and share their inspiring stories and contributions to our community,” said Manny Ruiz, Founder of Hispanicize Media Group that owns the Hispanicize event. “Last year was a challenging one in many aspects, from hurricanes impacting different communities to social changes taking place across the country. Nonetheless, Hispanics all over the United States have demonstrated their resilience and commitment to the betterment of our country.”

A panel of leaders from diverse industries will be judging the nominations and selecting winners for each of the Positive Impact Award categories. Members of the public will later have the opportunity to vote online and select the 2018 Positive Impact Person of the Year.

This year, the Positive Impact Awards celebrates its 5th anniversary. 2017 was a year plagued with natural disasters for the U.S., from hurricanes impacting Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico to multiple wildfires across California. Movements such as #metoo resonated in all corners of the country, challenging the social perceptions of our society.

During these trying times, Latinos found themselves rising as leaders and role models, supporting their communities, and making a lasting change in our country. The PIAs are determined to highlight these individuals and promote a positive change nationally.

Since its creation in 2013, the PIAs has honored a total of 33 outstanding Latinos across the United States who have dedicated their work to the creation of resources and educational programs that have empowered those in their communities and helped them achieved their dreams. Some past winners include, Dante Alvarado-Leon, Sarahi Espinoza Salamanca, Veronica Herrera, Doniece Sandoval, Alicia Rascon & Laura Donnelly, Jesus “Chuy” Medrano, Gaby Pacheco, Dr. Anthony Gonzalez, and George Torres, among others.

Winners will be honored during a gala at the annual Hispanicize Event (http://www.HispanicizeEvent.com), hosted in Miami at the JW Marriott Marquis from April 17-19, 2018.
