BURBANK, CA - November 10, 2017 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) - EstrellaTV, the largest privately held, minority-owned Spanish broadcasting network in the U.S. unveiled the winners of the 18th edition of its hit awards show “Premios de la Radio 2017,” where Julión Alvarez and Christian Nodal were the night’s biggest winners.

In what is considered to be the biggest night celebrating Regional Mexican Music, “Premios de la Radio” offered exclusive and emotional performances dedicated to the millions of young Latino immigrants in the U.S., also known as Dreamers. For the first time in the history of the awards ceremony, the show was broadcast live simultaneously from two stages, The Dolby Theater in Hollywood and Plaza Las Americas in Zapopan, Jalisco where Regional Mexican super stars Julión Alvarez, Plebes del Rancho and Remmy Valenzuela performed live.

“Premios de la Radio” is the only Latin music awards ceremony that recognizes and celebrates Regional Mexican music in the U.S., which continues to be the highest grossing genre in Latin music sales in the country. One of the most emotional performances of the night was the world premiere of singer songwriter Joss Favela’s “Somos Dreamers, who was accompanied by superstars Gerardo Ortiz, Luis Coronel, Christian Nodal, Kevin Ortiz and Alfredo Olivas. This year, EstrellaTV joined forces and stood in solidarity with the national campaign “Defend Our Dreamers,” which emphasizes the urgency of approving a clean “Dream Act” before the end of the year.

Some of the highlights dedicated to the Dreamers included musical performances by Calibre 50, who performed “El Corrido de Juanito” and Julión Alvarez’s “Mis Travesuras.” One of the most memorable and impactful moments of the night was Larry Hernandez and Adriel Favela’s performance of “Me Llamo Juan,” which concluded with the tearing down of a great wall that revealed a figure resembling President Trump sitting on a golden toilette with a phone in hand in what appears to insinuate the president’s favorite pastime.

One of the special moments of the night was the tribute that was prepared in honor of Regional Mexican music songstress Paquita la del Barrio, which featured Edith Marquez’s rendition of “Cheque en Blanco,” Ana Barbara’s version of “Tres Veces te Engañé” and Chiquis Rivera’s rendition of “Me Saludas a la Tuya.” Paquita la del Barrio joined them subsequently to perform her smash hit “Rata de Dos Patas” and received the special award “Los Grandes de Mexico” from Mexican actor Omar Chaparro and the founder of Premios de la Radio and radio programmer of Que Buena Radio in Los Angeles, Pepe Garza.

The second tribute of the night was dedicated to legendary accordionist and Norteño legend Ramon Ayala, who also was the recipient of the “Los Grandes de Mexico” award. For the first time in Norteño music and to celebrate his legacy, Beto Zapata of Grupo Pesado and Ricky Muñoz of Intocable performed together on stage “Un Puño de Tierra” along with Ayala. The tribute also included the voices of Remmy Valenzuela from the Zapopan stage, as well as a stellar lineup of the hottest names in Regional Mexican Music that included Larry Hernandez, La Septima Banda, Voz de Mando, El Dasa, El Fantasma, Christian Nodal, Jorge Medina, and Javier Rosas who joined their voices to perform the classic “Tragos Amargos.”

Remmy Valenzuela was also the recipient of a special recognition for celebrating 10 years of a successful musical career from the Zapopan, Jalisco stage. One of the most anticipated artists of the night was heartthrob Christian Nodal, who performed a medley of some his biggest hits, which included “Me Dejé Llevar,” “Probablemente” and “Adios Amor.” Another world television premiere was the performance of the new single by Ana Barbara and Edith Marquez “Un Par de Reinas.” The event concluded on a high note with the performance of “Somos Dreamers” by the entire group of artists that participated in the awards ceremony.

“Premios de la Radio 2017,” now in its 18th year, took place on Thursday, November 9, at The Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California and was broadcast live on the EstrellaTV Network. The show has consistently been a #1 hit in ratings for EstrellaTV.
