Estrella TV Beats All Spanish Language Networks in Ratings Gains in 2Q 2017

— Estrella TV network delivers a 34% ratings gain in Total Day significantly outpacing Univision, Telemundo, UniMás and Azteca América —

BURBANK, CA - May 17, 2017 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) - Estrella TV, the fastest growing, minority owned Spanish language broadcasting network in the U.S. announced today that it was the only Spanish language television network that delivered ratings gains in the second quarter of 2017 to date, as compared to same period last year.

Estrella TV has much to celebrate in 2Q 2017, as a recent Nielsen Ratings report crowns the minority owned network as the only Spanish language network, broadcast or cable, with ratings gains in Total Day (M-Sun, 6a-6a) among A18-49 for the period 3/27/17 to 5/7/17 as compared to same period last year. Estrella TV outpaced all of its competitors by posting an impressive 34% ratings gain(1).

While other major networks experienced ratings decline, Univision at -11%, Telemundo at -5%, followed by UniMás at -9% and Azteca América at a distant -24%, Estrella TV’s resounding success continues to corroborate the network’s asserted counterprogramming strategy in contrast to its competitors’ telenovela and super series offerings.

“We are obviously elated with these ratings gains and excited to see that we are clearly having an undeniable impact on Hispanic television audiences in the US. Our unique, and fast-paced programming speaks to today’s modern Hispanics in ways that our competitors have not been able to replicate. Since the inception of Estrella TV, our goal was always to produce Spanish language content that was fun, dynamic, entertaining and relatable to Hispanics living in the US, and I think these results corroborate our strategy,” stated Lenard Liberman, CEO, LBI Media, parent company to Estrella TV.
