Exposito would make Doral politics a trifecta
Doral may another surprise on its roster, after having hired former Miami Mayor Crazy Joe Carollo as its city manager.
Former Miami Police Chief Miguel Exposito, another strong personality to add to the mix of Carollo and Mayor Luigi Boria, could be named Doral Police Chief.
Talk about a political trifecta.
Exposito, as some of you may recall, was fired from the city of Miami last year after months of hand-wringing, finger-pointing and name calling. He is not a soft puppy and could make Doral even more fun to watch now.
Carollo, a close friend and ally of Exposito’s, told Ladra late Thursday that Exposito had not even applied and that the rumors were not true. But he told El Nuevo Herald’s Enrique Flor that “nothing has been discarded.
“At this moment, nobody can say who is going to be the next chief of police here or who is one of the favorites,” Carollo told Flor. “At the same time, I cannot say that Exposito or anyone else will be denied the right to apply. It is his right to do so. We live in a democracy.”
Ladra likes that Expo, as he is called, reported Mayor Tomas Regalado — who he said tried to bribe him out of the job with $400,000 — to the FBI. She likes that he almost got into a fistfight with his boss in the parking lot at City Hall. She likes that he outed Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle when he made some of her emails public after she was critical of some political corruption arrests. She likes that he went after the maquinita gaming mafia like a madman.
Ladra does not like that police shootings of unarmed black men skyrocketed during his two year reign and that a couple of corrupt cops that were his top men were busted — by other agencies, of course.
But whatever you feel about Chief Expo and Crazy Joe, you gotta admit one thing: Doral is making some funky decisions. If the tiny town was ignored before, it sure is getting on the political map now: In the insanity neighborhood.
Maybe that is not such a bad thing. Not for Ladra, anyway.

Funky? Really. Not such a bad thing? You obviously don’t live here Ms. Bark. This is embarrasing and will become a circus. Our city deserves better.

What are the folks in Doral thinking? There will be no silk purse from this sow’s ear to be sure!
Joe Carollo selected as City Manager for Doral? Give but one example of a rational, mature, appropriate, logical, sound, responsible leadership decision that this individual has EVER made while in public service, and I will sell you the Lincoln Memorial.
There will be flying teabag boxes – along with other domestic missles and desk ornaments – blazing through the air in short order. Why don’t you take bets on when the first implosion will occur?

Oh Gawd! Doral has become the capital of Banana Republics in Miami Dade. I am sure that the City of Miami is laughing its butt off and happy to lose the title at the same time.
Where does the City Commission stand on this? Do they have to confirm the hire if Loco Joe nominates Exposito?

Chief Expo is cleaning his wires; so those Doralzuela politicians and their associates better watch what they talk; or the three big letters maybe listening….

He may think he’s in Venezuela. Don’t they kind of operate like that over there?

My interchange with chief Exposito was limited and not consequential but it waS always courteous and respectful. Not a big statement at this time, but I a really feel we need to be kinder to each other, that we have been lately.
